For Parents

As a parent, you want your son to grow up to be a self-reliant, dependable and caring individual. Scouting has these same goals in mind for him.  Since 1910 we have been weaving lifetime values into fun and educational activities designed to assist parents in strengthening character, good citizenship, and physical fitness in youth.  Go to BSA's About Cub Scouting page to learn more.

How can I support my scout?

Training

Youth Protection Training - Starting June 1, 2010, the Boy Scouts of America instituted a National set of guidelines requiring Youth Protection Training for all registered adults regardless of their leadership position. Two major results of this requirement are that:
  • New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before submitting an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time the application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.
  • Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer’s Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered. read more about the YPT guideline
